Kith Learning Community
A place of community and connection,
family, nature and earth.
Natural pace learning for all.
The Kith Learning Community is a 2 day a week programme for young people aged 6 and over. Created to support the needs of home educated young people in the local area, we come together to create a nurturing homely environment that honours the natural pace of learning of each child. No two weeks are the same at the LC but will always flow with the rhythms, needs, stages and ages of the young people. Guided by the pillars which underpin the Kith Homestead ethos:
Earth Connection | Homestead Skills | Community | Creativity | Spirit
During the days the young people are free to direct their own time within the homestead space with facilitators on hand to help and guide where needed. We learn on the go, cook over the fire, go on adventure hikes, play team games, have community gatherings, lean in to the seasons, discover all the gifts the land has to offer.
We’re rooted in the meaning of “Kith”
kith: /kɪθ/
one's chosen friends, acquaintances, and relations
from the Old English “cydd”, which means native country, one's home outside the house
Led by the young person
and their connection with the land.
Our days will be set in the rhythms of the child. Outward bouts of explorative energy and calm, quiet moments to refuel. Whilst every child is free to be self-directed, we’ll fall into a rhythm for each day following optional activities, learning opportunities and curiosities for the children to delve into. This looks like long-term child engineered projects, short handcrafts, cooking and naturalist skills. Following the cycles of the seasons we’ll be led by the land and what’s available to us.
There is a thriving community of likeminded families supporting the young people of the LC, you’ll be welcomed into the group to begin enjoying time together beyond Kith. Meet ups, day trips, support and so much more.

About Additional Needs
We want Kith to be inclusive and welcoming, while also ensuring every child has the support they need to thrive. Our small team cannot provide one-to-one support, so families with children who have additional needs are encouraged to contact us before booking. Together, we can explore whether the Learning Community is the right fit, or whether another offering (such as Family Gatherings) might be more suitable.
